Children start in the Eyre Room at around 3 years of age and finish when they are ready to go to school. Children learn and grow so much and we aim to work in partnership with you to foster this development.
The Eyre room has many different ways in which we connect to our community. We use incursions and excursion to help us connect the children to the wider community. Incursions can include visits, from Marion council, police, fire brigade, sports programs, yoga and movement programs, these usually occur monthly.
On top of the incursions we like to get out and visit our local community with regular excursions to local parks, library and shopping centre. These are muchly anticipated by the children and staff alike.
We believe our community also includes the families of our centre and we try and make as many connections with families as possible. Some ways we like to support our families is by having parent-teacher interviews, parent open nights and special persons day throughout the year.
We welcome any parents who would like to help bring something special or unique to our room to do so, whether it be cultural, cooking, reading etc. We welcome parent involvement.
Every child brings their own culture to our room, whether they are from Australia or from Africa, every child has their culture to bring and we welcome them all. We love celebrating cultures and every culture represented in our room gets celebrated at least once through out the year. We plan weekly for cultural experiences and spontaneously on a daily basis based on children’s interests. Celebrating looks different for every culture so we welcome any support or ideas that you may be able to bring to our room.
We try and display the different culture flags represented on the walls of our room to help everybody feel like they belong.
